Open and edit Money data files
Microsoft Money Plus Sunset Deluxe allows you to open and edit Money files on your PC but without the online features or support of Money.
It does not require Microsoft online activation. Money Plus Sunset Deluxe includes most of the features you'll find in Money but there are no online features, there's no support and you can't import files from non-US versions of Money.
You can however import Quicken files but for those that need online banking services, you need the full version of Money.

Money still available, including on Windows 7 platform..
Here it is July 2013 and although Microsoft no longer supports this program they did bring out 2 offline freebie versions with help files included.
They are Money Plus Sunset Delux and Money Plus Sunset Home and Business. More

Still works after all these years.
Like most of us, I have a fair number of used and discarded programs-Microsoft Money for one. This one dates from 2000. I found it quite by accident in a box of books and CDs. On a lark I put it in the disc drive and son of a gun it loaded and installed itself. I always did like Money and preferred it to Quicken back in the day. I have the current version of Quicken but this 12 year old version is far superior both in information gathering and input. I note that the 2008 version is still available and I might download it just to see what the differences are. Quicken is acceptable if there is nothing else but Money, even a 12 year old version, is far superior in my opinion. I doubt I will give up Quicken anytime soon just because of the age of the Money program and the possibility that Microsoft might come out with an operating system that renders Money unworkable. Since I have a few Windows machines, I might not update one of them until I know Money will work on it.
Pros:
Very good budget interface
Very good recurring transaction interface
Easy to input transactions
Cons:
12 year old program
Report interface needs an overhaul
Obviously online banking needs to be updated, e.g. Chase Bank does not exist. More

Excellent program.
I have been using this program since 2000, upgrading each time a new version came out. The transitions have always been smooth with no loss of data. The program is very easy to use a provides enough reports for me to use as the Business Manager of my church.
Pros:
Easy to use
Cons:
Get on the stick Microsoft and support a good program!!!
Allow the user to modify the page layout. More

Microsoft Money fan for ever.
I have been working with MS Money at first 1998 and later 2001.
It is a excellent program and I'm doing books for 2 small businesses and the Auditor is impressed with the yearly print outs. He told me to stay away from quicken and Quick books because transaction could be deleted after the customer left. I would like to go to 2002 or 2003 but don't want to loose data on my Computer which are already 11 years old More

Don't Waste Your Time on a Discontinued Product.
I used Mircosoft Money for years and it was a very effective useful tool to manage personal and some business finances. However, upon learning about Microsoft discontinuing Money, I switched to Quicken immediately. After switching to Quicken, I actually found it to be a better product, more functionality, better reports, and many more subtle things, like payee translations...such as if a transaction is imported from your bank as 'Burger Place' #4554644, you can map this payee name simply to 'Burger Place', as well as the other Burger Place stores I visit in my travels.Switch to or start with Quicken now.
Pros:
Familiar Microsoft product
Cons:
Product is Discontinued More
